This is how my obsession with Manchester United started! My friend was going to auction off his Manchester United jersey because his father was very ill and he needed medical help fast. It was signed from David Beckham back when he played for the United. He was giving everyone he knew the opportunity to get in on the auction of his Manchester United jersey.

It was important for him to find a lot of people for two reasons. One is the more people you have at the auction, the more people you have bidding on the Manchester United jersey. The second was the popularity soccer player David Beckham still has in England and more importantly in Manchester. My buddy knew he was going to be well compensated for this Manchester United jersey if everything went as planned.

The day of the auction, my buddy called me and said his Manchester United jersey was missing. He thought it was stolen in the middle of the night because he saw the Manchester United jersey before he went to bed the evening before at 10 o’clock.

The first thing we did was look for clues in the room where the Manchester United jersey was last seen. It had been raining, as it usually does around here, all last night and there were wet boot tracks in the room. These boot prints led all the way down to the door. From there we saw remnants of an oil leak that had dripped all the way down the road.

We followed the oil leak to the auction house where we found the Manchester United jersey safe and sound in its spot. The auction house said they had talked to my friend two days ago and said they were picking the Manchester United jersey up the night before the auction. All was well and the Manchester United soccer jersey was auctioned off at a fair price.
